Spain: visa decisions in Pakistan

YearApplicationsVisas issuedRefusedRefusal rateMultiple-entry share
2023 18,4826,0679,76660.4% 9.8%
2024 15,3965,1086,68656.0% 15.9%
2025 12,2964,2695,60055.5% 18.8%

In 2025, Spain’s embassy and consulates in Pakistan (Islamabad) received 12,296 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 4,269. The refusal rate was 55.5%. That is barely different from 2024 (56.0%). Applications fell by 20% compared with 2024 (15,396).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 45.9% of the applications lodged in Pakistan that year, from 24.2% at the consulates of Germany to 78.7% at those of Denmark. Spain’s consulates worldwide refused 14.6%. Spain was the 3rd most applied-for Schengen state in Pakistan.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Pakistan, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
