YearApplicationsVisas issuedRefusedRefusal rateMultiple-entry share
2023 3,2091,2531,95660.6% 21.0%
2024 4,7831,8152,88861.1% 26.1%
2025 4,9872,0322,80757.4% 25.4%

In 2025, Belgium’s embassy and consulates in Pakistan (Islamabad) received 4,987 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 2,032. 57.4% of applications were refused. In 2024 it had been 61.1%: the rate fell by 3.7 points. Applications rose by 4% compared with 2024 (4,783).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 45.9% of the applications lodged in Pakistan that year, from 24.2% at the consulates of Germany to 78.7% at those of Denmark. Belgium’s consulates worldwide refused 26.1%. Belgium was the 7th most applied-for Schengen state in Pakistan.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Pakistan, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
