France: visa decisions in North Macedonia
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 31 | 27 | 3 | 10.0% | 33.3% |
| 2024 | 27 | 22 | 2 | 8.3% | 45.5% |
| 2025 | 30 | 24 | 5 | 17.2% | 20.8% |
In 2025, France’s embassy and consulates in North Macedonia (Skopje) received 30 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 24. 17.2% of applications were refused. In 2024 it had been 8.3%: the rate rose by 8.9 points, a sharp increase. Applications rose by 11% compared with 2024 (27).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 5.2% of the applications lodged in North Macedonia that year. France’s consulates worldwide refused 14.2%. France was the 10th most applied-for Schengen state in North Macedonia.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in North Macedonia, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
