Croatia: visa decisions in North Macedonia
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 19 | 15 | 4 | 17.4% | – |
| 2024 | 40 | 31 | 8 | 20.0% | 51.6% |
| 2025 | 29 | 19 | 5 | 20.0% | – |
In 2025, Croatia’s embassy and consulates in North Macedonia (Skopje) received 29 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 19. 20.0% of applications were refused. In 2024 the rate was much the same, 20.0%. Applications fell by 28% compared with 2024 (40).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 5.2% of the applications lodged in North Macedonia that year. Croatia’s consulates worldwide refused 18.5%. Croatia was the 11th most applied-for Schengen state in North Macedonia.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in North Macedonia, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
