Czech Republic: visa decisions in Malaysia

2023 118803832.2% 25.0%
2024 117962117.9% 36.5%
2025 115991613.9% 19.2%

In 2025, the Czech Republic’s embassy and consulates in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) received 115 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 99. The refusal rate was 13.9%. The refusal rate fell by 4.0 points from 17.9% in 2024. The number of applications was almost unchanged (117 in 2024).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 30.8% of the applications lodged in Malaysia that year, from 0.3% at the consulates of Austria to 61.5% at those of the Netherlands. the Czech Republic’s consulates worldwide refused 14.2%. The Czech Republic was the 10th most applied-for Schengen state in Malaysia.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Malaysia, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
