Romania: visa decisions in Israel

YearApplicationsVisas issuedRefusedRefusal rateMultiple-entry share
2024 (part of the year) 15614631.9% 62.3%
2025 28027541.3% 49.1%

In 2025, Romania’s embassy and consulates in Israel (Tel Aviv and Haifa) received 280 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 275. 1.3% of applications were refused. In 2024 the rate was much the same, 1.9%. Applications rose by 79% compared with 2024 (156).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 18.5% of the applications lodged in Israel that year, from 2.1% at the consulates of Germany to 29.0% at those of Spain. Romania’s consulates worldwide refused 11.5%. Romania was the 10th most applied-for Schengen state in Israel.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. Romania only began issuing Schengen visas on 31 March 2024, so its 2024 figures cover part of the year. The figures cover applications lodged in Israel, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
