Hungary: visa decisions in Israel
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 651 | 474 | 177 | 27.1% | 27.6% |
| 2024 | 567 | 342 | 225 | 39.7% | 33.3% |
| 2025 | 579 | 434 | 127 | 22.6% | 36.4% |
In 2025, Hungary’s embassy and consulates in Israel (Tel Aviv) received 579 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 434. 22.6% of applications were refused. In 2024 it had been 39.7%: the rate fell by 17.1 points, a clear improvement for applicants. The number of applications was almost unchanged (567 in 2024).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 18.5% of the applications lodged in Israel that year, from 2.1% at the consulates of Germany to 29.0% at those of Spain. Hungary’s consulates worldwide refused 13.0%. Hungary was the 8th most applied-for Schengen state in Israel.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Israel, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
