Belgium: visa decisions in Israel
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 651 | 494 | 157 | 23.8% | 30.0% |
| 2024 | 673 | 441 | 209 | 31.4% | 17.9% |
| 2025 | 717 | 535 | 161 | 22.5% | 32.5% |
In 2025, Belgium’s embassy and consulates in Israel (Jerusalem and Tel Aviv) received 717 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 535. 22.5% of applications were refused. In 2024 it had been 31.4%: the rate fell by 8.8 points, a clear improvement for applicants. Applications rose by 7% compared with 2024 (673).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 18.5% of the applications lodged in Israel that year, from 2.1% at the consulates of Germany to 29.0% at those of Spain. Belgium’s consulates worldwide refused 26.1%. Belgium was the 6th most applied-for Schengen state in Israel.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Israel, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
