Romania: visa decisions in Georgia
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 (part of the year) | 15 | 12 | 2 | – | – |
| 2025 | 33 | 28 | 5 | 15.2% | 35.7% |
In 2025, Romania’s embassy and consulates in Georgia (Tbilisi) received 33 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 28. The refusal rate was 15.2%. Applications rose by 120% compared with 2024 (15).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 13.8% of the applications lodged in Georgia that year, from 3.1% at the consulates of the Netherlands to 33.9% at those of Italy. Romania’s consulates worldwide refused 11.5%. Romania was the 15th most applied-for Schengen state in Georgia.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. Romania only began issuing Schengen visas on 31 March 2024, so its 2024 figures cover part of the year. The figures cover applications lodged in Georgia, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
