Switzerland: visa decisions in Colombia
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 26 | 25 | 1 | 3.8% | 56.0% |
| 2024 | 26 | 24 | 2 | 7.7% | 79.2% |
| 2025 | 29 | 27 | 1 | 3.4% | 96.3% |
In 2025, Switzerland’s embassy and consulates in Colombia (Bogotá) received 29 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 27. The refusal rate was 3.4%. The refusal rate fell by 4.2 points from 7.7% in 2024. Applications rose by 12% compared with 2024 (26).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 10.0% of the applications lodged in Colombia that year. Switzerland’s consulates worldwide refused 12.5%. Switzerland was the 9th most applied-for Schengen state in Colombia.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Colombia, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
