Romania: visa decisions in Colombia
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 (part of the year) | 49 | 23 | 0 | 0.0% | 17.4% |
| 2025 | 45 | 20 | 25 | 55.6% | 15.0% |
In 2025, Romania’s embassy and consulates in Colombia (Bogotá) received 45 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 20. The refusal rate was 55.6%. The refusal rate rose by 55.6 points from 0.0% in 2024, a sharp increase. Applications fell by 8% compared with 2024 (49).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 10.0% of the applications lodged in Colombia that year. Romania’s consulates worldwide refused 11.5%. Romania was the 6th most applied-for Schengen state in Colombia.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. Romania only began issuing Schengen visas on 31 March 2024, so its 2024 figures cover part of the year. The figures cover applications lodged in Colombia, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
