2024 24,55821,0363,06312.7% 57.6%
2025 25,64123,3031,9487.7% 60.9%

In 2025, Denmark’s embassy and consulates in China (Guangzhou, Beijing and Shanghai) received 25,641 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 23,303. 7.7% of applications were refused. In 2024 it had been 12.7%: the rate fell by 5.0 points, a clear improvement for applicants. Applications rose by 4% compared with 2024 (24,558).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 4.0% of the applications lodged in China that year, from 1.3% at the consulates of Luxembourg to 19.3% at those of Malta. Denmark’s consulates worldwide refused 21.9%. Denmark was the 13th most applied-for Schengen state in China.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in China, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
