Norway: visa decisions in Australia

YearApplicationsVisas issuedRefusedRefusal rateMultiple-entry share
2023 3132763711.7% 12.0%

In 2023, Norway’s embassy and consulates in Australia (Canberra) received 313 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 276. The refusal rate was 11.7%.

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 2.7% of the applications lodged in Australia that year, from 0.3% at the consulates of Greece to 15.3% at those of the Netherlands. Norway’s consulates worldwide refused 15.9%. Norway was the 9th most applied-for Schengen state in Australia.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Australia, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
