Czech Republic: visa decisions in Australia
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 163 | 162 | 1 | 0.6% | 3.7% |
| 2024 | 142 | 136 | 6 | 4.2% | 8.8% |
| 2025 | 231 | 218 | 12 | 5.2% | 12.8% |
In 2025, the Czech Republic’s embassy and consulates in Australia (Sydney) received 231 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 218. The refusal rate was 5.2%. That is barely different from 2024 (4.2%). Applications rose by 63% compared with 2024 (142).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 3.0% of the applications lodged in Australia that year, from 0.6% at the consulates of Switzerland to 8.8% at those of the Netherlands. the Czech Republic’s consulates worldwide refused 14.2%. The Czech Republic was the 11th most applied-for Schengen state in Australia.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Australia, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
