Investment thresholds

Maldives Immigration lists three alternative ways to qualify. The first is an investment of at least US$1,000,000 in the Maldives within the preceding three financial years. The second is a fixed deposit of US$250,000 held for five years in a bank licensed in the Maldives. The third is an investment of at least US$250,000 in a project approved by the Government of Maldives. Meeting one of the three is enough.

Where to apply

Corporate Resident Visa applications are submitted through the government's ONEGov portal, where the Business Visa and Corporate Resident Visa service lets registered businesses apply for, renew and manage these visas for foreign investors, directors and key personnel. The service is provided by the economic development ministry and requires an eFaas sign-in; detailed instructions and the documents checklist are published on the service page.

  1. Choose the route: US$1 million over three financial years, a US$250,000 five-year deposit, or US$250,000 in an approved project.
  2. Make the investment or open the fixed deposit with a bank licensed in the Maldives.
  3. Create an eFaas account and open the Corporate Resident Visa service on ONEGov.
  4. Follow the service guideline and upload the documents on its checklist.
  5. After approval, travel with the visa and file the IMUGA declaration before each arrival.

Travelling on the visa

Like other Maldivian visas, the Corporate Resident Visa is linked to your passport number. If you renew your passport and the numbers no longer match, you may be allowed to enter after submitting a new visa application, and your passport may be held temporarily. Every arrival also requires the IMUGA Traveller Declaration within 96 hours before travel.

What is not published

Maldives Immigration's public page does not state the visa's validity period or fee; these are given in the ONEGov service guideline after sign-in or by Immigration on +960 1434. Check them before transferring money, and keep evidence of the investment or deposit for renewals.
