Chad eVisa (evisa.td)
In short
Chad's eVisa is the only way to obtain a Chadian visa other than diplomatic and courtesy visas. Non-exempt foreigners apply on evisa.td at least seven days and at most 90 days before entry, upload their passport bio page and the documents for their category, and pay online. Visas cannot be modified or refunded once issued, and yellow fever vaccination proof is checked on arrival.

Legal basis and who must apply
Access to Chadian territory requires a visa. Under Decree No. 2299/PR/PM/MSPI/2025 on the entry and stay of foreigners and Joint Order No. 033/PR/PM/MFBEPCI/MSPI/2026 on visa categories and their fees, the Directorate of Emigration and Immigration and its e-Visa sub-directorate announced on 11 May 2026 that all visa applications are now made exclusively on evisa.td. The platform covers every visa category in the new fee schedule except diplomatic and courtesy visas, which stay with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Nationals of 19 countries are exempt: Barbados, Benin, Bermuda, Burkina Faso, the Central African Republic, Congo, the Cook Islands, Dominica, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Mali, Micronesia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Singapore, Suriname and Togo. Every other nationality applies online.
Documents by category
Prepare digital files (PDF or image). Every applicant needs a colour scan of the passport bio page and a recent colour visa-type photo. Depending on the category, the platform asks for a return or one-way flight ticket or other proof of transport, a hotel booking or certificate of accommodation, a legalised invitation letter from an organisation or a private person, administrative documents of the host organisation, proof of funds or income such as bank statements, an employment contract, the agreement between an NGO and the State of Chad, a mission order, proof of profession, the company’s administrative and tax documents, a residence card from your country of residence, or all pages of a valid passport. For an extension, upload your last visa.

Fees and refunds
Fees follow the new schedule of Joint Order No. 033 of 2026; the public pages of evisa.td do not list the amounts, which appear when you pay online. Because issuance is automated, an eVisa cannot be modified after issue, and the platform states that refunds are not possible, so check every entry before submitting.
Applying step by step
The platform describes four steps: start the request, fill in the form, pay, and track the request. To start, you enter and confirm your email address and give your travel document number and its expiry date. You can check the status later on the tracking page with your application reference.
- Check the exempt-country list on evisa.td.
- Start the request with your email address, travel document number and expiry date.
- Choose your category, fill in the form and upload the documents it asks for.
- Review all entries, then pay online; the eVisa cannot be changed or refunded later.
- Track the request with your reference and download the issued eVisa.
- Travel with the eVisa and your yellow fever vaccination proof.
When to apply and transition rules
Apply at least seven days before your entry date and not more than 90 days before it. Since 11 May 2026 every new application must go through evisa.td; after 21 May 2026 a visa issued outside the platform is considered invalid and does not allow entry. Visas regularly issued before that date remain valid until they expire, and manual entry authorisations have been abolished.
On arrival
Carry proof of yellow fever vaccination: the platform states that immigration services check it on arrival. Keep the eVisa and the documents you uploaded with you for the border check.
Extensions and contacts
If the eVisa expires while you are in Chad, contact the Directorate of Emigration and Immigration to extend it; the extension request is also made on the platform with your last visa attached. The e-Visa sub-directorate is at Central Police Station No. 2 in the 8th district of N’Djamena, open Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 15:30, telephone +235 68 00 11 45 or +235 97 80 53 16, email contact@evisa.td.
Before travelling
Parts of Chad are affected by insecurity. Consult official security information about your route before booking, and use only evisa.td for the visa, since visas obtained through other channels after 21 May 2026 are not accepted.
