Cabo Verde EASE pre-registration

EASE travellers pre-registration

In short

Foreign travellers flying to Cabo Verde pre-register on EASE, the official entry platform, and pay the airport security fee (TSA) of CVE 3,400 for international flights during registration. Travellers who are not visa-exempt can request a tourist visa on the same platform for CVE 2,500, or at the border for CVE 5,000. Nationals of the 91 countries on the 2026 list must instead obtain a visa from a Cabo Verde embassy before departure.

Who pre-registers

EASE is the official system for travellers' entry into Cabo Verde. Foreign visitors complete the travellers' pre-registration, and travel agencies use a separate access to register their clients as a group. Decree-Law No. 13/2025 makes the pre-registration part of the airport security fee: the fee for international flights is collected by the Directorate of Foreigners and Borders (DEF) through the pre-registration website, and the receipt shows it. Pre-registration does not by itself guarantee entry; the platform reminds travellers to check that they meet the legal requirements.

When a visa is needed before travel

From 1 January 2026, nationals of the 91 listed countries must hold an entry visa, or a transit or airport transit visa, before arriving; they cannot receive a visa online or at an air border and should contact the nearest Cabo Verde embassy, which needs the binding opinion of the DEF. The first version of the list, published on 24 November 2025, contained 96 countries; the rectified list published on 23 January 2026 has 91 and is available on the EASE website. Listed nationals are exempt if they hold a valid residence permit from an EU state, Iceland, Liechtenstein, the United Kingdom, San Marino, Switzerland, the Vatican, Brazil, Canada or the United States guaranteeing readmission, a Cabo Verde residence permit, a recognised laissez-passer or a foreign mission ID issued by Cabo Verde's foreign ministry.

Documents checked on arrival

The decree lists the general documents for a tourist or transit visa: a colour passport photo, which can be replaced by biometric capture, a passport valid beyond the authorised stay, travel insurance covering medical costs including urgent care and repatriation, proof of means of subsistence and a copy of the return ticket. When the visa is requested online, the insurance, the proof of means and any vaccination certificate are shown at the border post on arrival. A transit visa also needs the onward ticket and the visa for the final destination where one is required.

Airport security fee and visa fees

The airport security fee (TSA) is CVE 3,400 per passenger landing on an international flight and CVE 150 on domestic flights. Children under two, passengers in transit and people born in Cabo Verde with their spouses and minor children are exempt. Under Portaria No. 40/2025, in force since 1 February 2026, a tourist visa requested on the online pre-registration platform costs CVE 2,500, and a tourist or transit visa granted on arrival at the border post costs CVE 5,000 including the surcharge. A passenger who arrives without a valid pre-registration pays a border-control surcharge of CVE 3,400, on top of the TSA.

Registration steps

The online registration has several steps: choose the language and the visa option, enter personal data exactly as in the passport (gender, first and last name, date and place of birth, nationality), add further personal information, provide travel information and confirm the pre-registration summary. Keep the receipt for the border. Questions about a registration can be sent to ease-support@cv.zetes.com.

  1. Check that your nationality is not on the 91-country visa list.
  2. Open the EASE travellers pre-registration and choose the language.
  3. Select the visa option offered for your nationality.
  4. Enter personal, additional and travel information.
  5. Pay the TSA and any visa fee and keep the receipt.
  6. Show the receipt, insurance and proof of means at the border.

Extending a tourist stay

In its 2014 text, the foreigners law allows a tourist visa holder to stay up to 90 days, extendable once by the same period, with the visa to be used within 180 days. Extensions are requested on the digital platform or, exceptionally, at DEF counters; the 2026 fee table charges CVE 1,500 to examine the request and CVE 3,000 for the extension. Paid work is not covered: it needs a temporary visa for a professional activity or a residence visa.

Official visits

Listed nationals holding diplomatic, official or service passports, and others travelling for an official activity at the invitation of the Cabo Verde authorities, may be granted official, diplomatic or courtesy visas under the law.
