Norway also has a consulate general in Beijing; its work is consular: passports and documents for its own citizens and, often, visas for visitors.

Chinese citizens must obtain a visa before travelling to Norway. In China, applications go to the Norwegian embassy in Beijing or the consulate in Beijing, or to a visa centre working for Norway.

Norwegian missions in China close on China’s public holidays, the next being New Year's Day on Friday 1 January 2027, Chinese New Year (Spring Festival) on Saturday 6 February 2027 and Labour Day on Saturday 1 May 2027, and usually on some holidays of Norway, such as Christmas Day (Første juledag) on Friday 25 December 2026.
