2024 5,2894,65152510.1% 35.3%
2025 4,9904,5044078.3% 26.3%

In 2025, the Netherlands’ embassy and consulates in Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi) received 4,990 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 4,504. 8.3% of applications were refused. In 2024 it had been 10.1%: the rate fell by 1.8 points. Applications fell by 6% compared with 2024 (5,289).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 9.4% of the applications lodged in Vietnam that year, from 3.6% at the consulates of Poland to 20.8% at those of Finland. the Netherlands’ consulates worldwide refused 17.7%. The Netherlands was the 4th most applied-for Schengen state in Vietnam.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Vietnam, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
