Lithuania: visa decisions in the United Arab Emirates

YearApplicationsVisas issuedRefusedRefusal rateMultiple-entry share
2023 3272319127.9% 64.5%
2024 2021424924.6% 51.4%
2025 2852206221.9% 44.5%

In 2025, Lithuania’s embassy and consulates in the United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi Island and Internal Islands City) received 285 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 220. 21.9% of applications were refused. In 2024 it had been 24.6%: the rate fell by 2.7 points. Applications rose by 41% compared with 2024 (202).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 24.2% of the applications lodged in the United Arab Emirates that year, from 10.9% at the consulates of Latvia to 58.2% at those of Bulgaria. Lithuania’s consulates worldwide refused 14.4%. Lithuania was the 27th most applied-for Schengen state in the United Arab Emirates.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in the United Arab Emirates, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
