2024 12,8467,9276,39144.6% 56.5%
2025 17,28811,3745,31931.8% 58.8%

In 2025, Denmark’s embassy and consulates in the United Arab Emirates (Sharjah city) received 17,288 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 11,374. The refusal rate was 31.8%. The refusal rate fell by 12.7 points from 44.6% in 2024, a clear improvement for applicants. Applications rose by 35% compared with 2024 (12,846).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 24.2% of the applications lodged in the United Arab Emirates that year, from 10.9% at the consulates of Latvia to 58.2% at those of Bulgaria. Denmark’s consulates worldwide refused 21.9%. Denmark was the 7th most applied-for Schengen state in the United Arab Emirates.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in the United Arab Emirates, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
