2025 312839.7% 67.9%

In 2025, Slovakia’s embassy and consulates in Ukraine (Uzhhorod) received 31 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 28. 9.7% of applications were refused. In 2024 the rate was much the same, 9.1%. Applications fell by 83% compared with 2024 (178).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 10.7% of the applications lodged in Ukraine that year, from 5.2% at the consulates of Romania to 23.9% at those of France. Slovakia’s consulates worldwide refused 9.6%. Slovakia was the 9th most applied-for Schengen state in Ukraine.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Ukraine, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
