| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 8,719 | 4,869 | 3,175 | 39.4% | 22.3% |
| 2024 | 10,561 | 6,947 | 3,664 | 34.5% | 25.4% |
| 2025 | 44,253 | 31,914 | 8,491 | 21.0% | 85.3% |
In 2025, Denmark’s embassy and consulates in Turkey (Ankara) received 44,253 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 31,914. The refusal rate was 21.0%. The refusal rate fell by 13.5 points from 34.5% in 2024, a clear improvement for applicants. Applications rose by 319% compared with 2024 (10,561).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 14.6% of the applications lodged in Turkey that year, from 3.5% at the consulates of Portugal to 35.5% at those of Lithuania. Denmark’s consulates worldwide refused 21.9%. Denmark was the 8th most applied-for Schengen state in Turkey.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Turkey, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
