Czech Republic: visa decisions in Turkey
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 15,855 | 12,586 | 3,267 | 20.6% | 37.8% |
| 2024 | 21,118 | 16,026 | 5,086 | 24.1% | 41.1% |
| 2025 | 24,042 | 19,801 | 4,234 | 17.6% | 46.2% |
In 2025, the Czech Republic’s embassy and consulates in Turkey (Istanbul and Ankara) received 24,042 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 19,801. The refusal rate was 17.6%. The refusal rate fell by 6.5 points from 24.1% in 2024, a clear improvement for applicants. Applications rose by 14% compared with 2024 (21,118).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 14.6% of the applications lodged in Turkey that year, from 3.5% at the consulates of Portugal to 35.5% at those of Lithuania. the Czech Republic’s consulates worldwide refused 14.2%. The Czech Republic was the 11th most applied-for Schengen state in Turkey.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Turkey, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
