Netherlands: visa decisions in Thailand
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 11,649 | 10,174 | 1,365 | 11.8% | 33.3% |
| 2024 | 11,284 | 10,165 | 981 | 8.8% | 38.0% |
| 2025 | 10,319 | 9,483 | 784 | 7.6% | 30.5% |
In 2025, the Netherlands’ embassy and consulates in Thailand (Bangkok) received 10,319 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 9,483. 7.6% of applications were refused. In 2024 the rate was much the same, 8.8%. Applications fell by 9% compared with 2024 (11,284).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 5.9% of the applications lodged in Thailand that year, from 2.0% at the consulates of Romania to 28.7% at those of Poland. the Netherlands’ consulates worldwide refused 17.7%. The Netherlands was the 10th most applied-for Schengen state in Thailand.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Thailand, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
