Hungary: visa decisions in Thailand
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 1,375 | 1,281 | 94 | 6.8% | 29.5% |
| 2024 | 2,042 | 1,845 | 197 | 9.6% | 30.6% |
| 2025 | 2,081 | 1,955 | 120 | 5.8% | 39.7% |
In 2025, Hungary’s embassy and consulates in Thailand (Bangkok) received 2,081 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 1,955. The refusal rate was 5.8%. The refusal rate fell by 3.9 points from 9.6% in 2024. The number of applications was almost unchanged (2,042 in 2024).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 5.9% of the applications lodged in Thailand that year, from 2.0% at the consulates of Romania to 28.7% at those of Poland. Hungary’s consulates worldwide refused 13.0%. Hungary was the 15th most applied-for Schengen state in Thailand.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Thailand, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
