Poland: visa decisions in Syria

YearApplicationsVisas issuedRefusedRefusal rateMultiple-entry share
2023 30812018759.7% 22.5%
2024 1555010467.1% 32.0%
2025 125636249.6% 38.1%

In 2025, Poland’s embassy and consulates in Syria (Damascus) received 125 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 63. 49.6% of applications were refused. In 2024 it had been 67.1%: the rate fell by 17.5 points, a clear improvement for applicants. Applications fell by 19% compared with 2024 (155).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 27.1% of the applications lodged in Syria that year, from 19.0% at the consulates of Greece to 41.4% at those of Romania. Poland’s consulates worldwide refused 15.8%. Poland was the 4th most applied-for Schengen state in Syria.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Syria, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
