Switzerland: visa decisions in Serbia
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 1,540 | 1,430 | 110 | 7.1% | 70.3% |
| 2024 | 1,633 | 1,529 | 92 | 5.6% | 46.6% |
| 2025 | 1,586 | 1,458 | 120 | 7.6% | 48.1% |
In 2025, Switzerland’s embassy and consulates in Serbia (Belgrade) received 1,586 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 1,458. 7.6% of applications were refused. In 2024 it had been 5.6%: the rate rose by 1.9 points. Applications fell by 3% compared with 2024 (1,633).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 5.7% of the applications lodged in Serbia that year, from 1.1% at the consulates of Greece to 16.9% at those of Croatia. Switzerland’s consulates worldwide refused 12.5%. Switzerland was the 6th most applied-for Schengen state in Serbia.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Serbia, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
