Spain: visa decisions in Serbia

YearApplicationsVisas issuedRefusedRefusal rateMultiple-entry share
2023 1,1941,050938.1% 1.3%
2024 2,5912,23926510.6% 0.6%
2025 1,9811,829764.0% 0.4%

In 2025, Spain’s embassy and consulates in Serbia (Belgrade) received 1,981 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 1,829. The refusal rate was 4.0%. The refusal rate fell by 6.6 points from 10.6% in 2024, a clear improvement for applicants. Applications fell by 24% compared with 2024 (2,591).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 5.7% of the applications lodged in Serbia that year, from 1.1% at the consulates of Greece to 16.9% at those of Croatia. Spain’s consulates worldwide refused 14.6%. Spain was the 3rd most applied-for Schengen state in Serbia.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Serbia, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
