Germany: visa decisions in Serbia
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 1,299 | 1,173 | 118 | 9.1% | 49.9% |
| 2024 | 2,069 | 1,934 | 86 | 4.2% | 28.3% |
| 2025 | 2,890 | 2,678 | 163 | 5.7% | 20.9% |
In 2025, Germany’s embassy and consulates in Serbia (Belgrade) received 2,890 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 2,678. 5.7% of applications were refused. In 2024 it had been 4.2%: the rate rose by 1.5 points. Applications rose by 40% compared with 2024 (2,069).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 5.7% of the applications lodged in Serbia that year, from 1.1% at the consulates of Greece to 16.9% at those of Croatia. Germany’s consulates worldwide refused 13.1%. Germany was the most applied-for Schengen state in Serbia.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Serbia, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
