Italy: visa decisions in the Philippines
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 25,677 | 24,344 | 1,327 | 5.2% | 95.2% |
| 2024 | 28,515 | 26,455 | 2,057 | 7.2% | 95.6% |
| 2025 | 32,161 | 29,118 | 3,043 | 9.5% | 96.8% |
In 2025, Italy’s embassy and consulates in the Philippines (Manila) received 32,161 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 29,118. The refusal rate was 9.5%. The refusal rate rose by 2.2 points from 7.2% in 2024. Applications rose by 13% compared with 2024 (28,515).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 6.9% of the applications lodged in the Philippines that year, from 3.8% at the consulates of the Netherlands to 22.3% at those of the Czech Republic. Italy’s consulates worldwide refused 10.8%. Italy was the 3rd most applied-for Schengen state in the Philippines.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in the Philippines, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
