2025 25,51222,6182,84911.2% 100.0%

In 2025, Germany’s embassy and consulates in the Philippines (Manila) received 25,512 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 22,618. The refusal rate was 11.2%. The refusal rate rose by 5.5 points from 5.7% in 2024, a sharp increase. Applications rose by 15% compared with 2024 (22,158).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 6.9% of the applications lodged in the Philippines that year, from 3.8% at the consulates of the Netherlands to 22.3% at those of the Czech Republic. Germany’s consulates worldwide refused 13.1%. Germany was the 5th most applied-for Schengen state in the Philippines.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in the Philippines, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
