Spain: visa decisions in Peru
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 227 | 205 | 13 | 6.0% | 18.0% |
| 2024 | 252 | 201 | 35 | 14.8% | 14.4% |
| 2025 | 306 | 219 | 69 | 24.0% | 11.4% |
In 2025, Spain’s embassy and consulates in Peru (Lima) received 306 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 219. The refusal rate was 24.0%. The refusal rate rose by 9.1 points from 14.8% in 2024, a sharp increase. Applications rose by 21% compared with 2024 (252).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 16.9% of the applications lodged in Peru that year. Spain’s consulates worldwide refused 14.6%. Spain was the most applied-for Schengen state in Peru.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Peru, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
