Netherlands: visa decisions in Peru
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 145 | 123 | 17 | 12.1% | 59.3% |
| 2024 | 138 | 118 | 17 | 12.5% | 40.7% |
| 2025 | 67 | 64 | 1 | 1.5% | 34.4% |
In 2025, the Netherlands’ embassy and consulates in Peru (Lima) received 67 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 64. The refusal rate was 1.5%. The refusal rate fell by 11.0 points from 12.5% in 2024, a clear improvement for applicants. Applications fell by 51% compared with 2024 (138).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 16.9% of the applications lodged in Peru that year. the Netherlands’ consulates worldwide refused 17.7%. The Netherlands was the 7th most applied-for Schengen state in Peru.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Peru, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
