Italy: visa decisions in Peru
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 64 | 57 | 7 | 10.9% | 84.2% |
| 2024 | 69 | 55 | 14 | 20.3% | 98.2% |
| 2025 | 73 | 67 | 6 | 8.2% | 89.6% |
In 2025, Italy’s embassy and consulates in Peru (Lima) received 73 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 67. 8.2% of applications were refused. In 2024 it had been 20.3%: the rate fell by 12.1 points, a clear improvement for applicants. Applications rose by 6% compared with 2024 (69).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 16.9% of the applications lodged in Peru that year. Italy’s consulates worldwide refused 10.8%. Italy was the 5th most applied-for Schengen state in Peru.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Peru, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
