Belgium: visa decisions in Peru
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 85 | 57 | 28 | 32.9% | 43.9% |
| 2024 | 99 | 68 | 19 | 21.8% | 27.9% |
| 2025 | 103 | 69 | 32 | 31.7% | 36.2% |
In 2025, Belgium’s embassy and consulates in Peru (Lima) received 103 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 69. 31.7% of applications were refused. In 2024 it had been 21.8%: the rate rose by 9.8 points, a sharp increase. Applications rose by 4% compared with 2024 (99).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 16.9% of the applications lodged in Peru that year. Belgium’s consulates worldwide refused 26.1%. Belgium was the 3rd most applied-for Schengen state in Peru.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Peru, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
