In fiscal year 2025 (October 2024 to September 2025) the United States issued 2,493,700 nonimmigrant visas to citizens of Mexico, the highest number of the 206 nationalities listed. Visitor visas (B1/B2) made up 81%, work and treaty visas 17%. That is 3% more than in fiscal year 2024 (2,413,020).
From October 2025 to February 2026, citizens of Mexico received 772,659, 28% fewer than in the same months a year earlier.
For visitor visas (B1/B2) the State Department reports an adjusted refusal rate of 21.4% for citizens of Mexico in fiscal year 2025 (fiscal year 2024: 13.9%). The adjusted rate counts a refusal that was later overcome, for example with further documents, as an issuance. A rate below 3% is one of the conditions for a country to join the Visa Waiver Program.
