Switzerland: visa decisions in Mexico
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 135 | 120 | 15 | 11.1% | 34.2% |
| 2024 | 117 | 111 | 6 | 5.1% | 60.4% |
| 2025 | 132 | 120 | 7 | 5.3% | 68.3% |
In 2025, Switzerland’s embassy and consulates in Mexico (Mexico City) received 132 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 120. 5.3% of applications were refused. In 2024 the rate was much the same, 5.1%. Applications rose by 13% compared with 2024 (117).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 5.5% of the applications lodged in Mexico that year, from 3.3% at the consulates of Spain to 9.8% at those of France. Switzerland’s consulates worldwide refused 12.5%. Switzerland was the 6th most applied-for Schengen state in Mexico.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Mexico, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
