Germany: visa decisions in Mexico
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 163 | 147 | 5 | 3.3% | 92.5% |
| 2024 | 200 | 188 | 5 | 2.6% | 93.6% |
| 2025 | 200 | 186 | 8 | 4.1% | 92.5% |
In 2025, Germany’s embassy and consulates in Mexico (Mexico City) received 200 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 186. 4.1% of applications were refused. In 2024 it had been 2.6%: the rate rose by 1.5 points. The number of applications was almost unchanged (200 in 2024).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 5.5% of the applications lodged in Mexico that year, from 3.3% at the consulates of Spain to 9.8% at those of France. Germany’s consulates worldwide refused 13.1%. Germany was the 4th most applied-for Schengen state in Mexico.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Mexico, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
