Switzerland: visa decisions in Lebanon
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 3,310 | 2,390 | 757 | 22.9% | 55.7% |
| 2024 | 2,931 | 2,245 | 626 | 21.4% | 62.9% |
| 2025 | 2,866 | 2,436 | 384 | 13.4% | 58.9% |
In 2025, Switzerland’s embassy and consulates in Lebanon (Beirut) received 2,866 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 2,436. The refusal rate was 13.4%. The refusal rate fell by 8.0 points from 21.4% in 2024, a clear improvement for applicants. The number of applications was almost unchanged (2,931 in 2024).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 17.3% of the applications lodged in Lebanon that year, from 4.6% at the consulates of Bulgaria to 38.6% at those of Germany. Switzerland’s consulates worldwide refused 12.5%. Switzerland was the 6th most applied-for Schengen state in Lebanon.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Lebanon, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
