Spain: visa decisions in Lebanon

YearApplicationsVisas issuedRefusedRefusal rateMultiple-entry share

2024 11,1648,1101,76916.6% 27.6%
2025 12,8549,6862,00716.4% 22.4%

In 2025, Spain’s embassy and consulates in Lebanon (Beirut) received 12,854 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 9,686. 16.4% of applications were refused. In 2024 the rate was much the same, 16.6%. Applications rose by 15% compared with 2024 (11,164).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 17.3% of the applications lodged in Lebanon that year, from 4.6% at the consulates of Bulgaria to 38.6% at those of Germany. Spain’s consulates worldwide refused 14.6%. Spain was the 4th most applied-for Schengen state in Lebanon.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Lebanon, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
