Romania: visa decisions in Lebanon

YearApplicationsVisas issuedRefusedRefusal rateMultiple-entry share
2024 (part of the year) 4934045611.4% 57.4%
2025 620557579.1% 46.9%

In 2025, Romania’s embassy and consulates in Lebanon (Beirut) received 620 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 557. The refusal rate was 9.1%. The refusal rate fell by 2.3 points from 11.4% in 2024. Applications rose by 26% compared with 2024 (493).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 17.3% of the applications lodged in Lebanon that year, from 4.6% at the consulates of Bulgaria to 38.6% at those of Germany. Romania’s consulates worldwide refused 11.5%. Romania was the 14th most applied-for Schengen state in Lebanon.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. Romania only began issuing Schengen visas on 31 March 2024, so its 2024 figures cover part of the year. The figures cover applications lodged in Lebanon, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
