2024 13,64910,6572,68719.7% 64.9%
2025 13,90911,4332,47617.7% 52.3%

In 2025, Italy’s embassy and consulates in Lebanon (Beirut) received 13,909 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 11,433. The refusal rate was 17.7%. The refusal rate fell by 2.0 points from 19.7% in 2024. The number of applications was almost unchanged (13,649 in 2024).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 17.3% of the applications lodged in Lebanon that year, from 4.6% at the consulates of Bulgaria to 38.6% at those of Germany. Italy’s consulates worldwide refused 10.8%. Italy was the 2nd most applied-for Schengen state in Lebanon.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Lebanon, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
