Germany: visa decisions in Lebanon

YearApplicationsVisas issuedRefusedRefusal rateMultiple-entry share
2023 12,2757,2774,71438.5% 98.6%
2024 12,0967,9503,86332.0% 99.7%
2025 11,3336,7284,36238.6% 98.9%

In 2025, Germany’s embassy and consulates in Lebanon (Beirut) received 11,333 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 6,728. The refusal rate was 38.6%. The refusal rate rose by 6.6 points from 32.0% in 2024, a sharp increase. Applications fell by 6% compared with 2024 (12,096).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 17.3% of the applications lodged in Lebanon that year. Germany’s consulates worldwide refused 13.1%. Germany was the 5th most applied-for Schengen state in Lebanon.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Lebanon, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
