2024 30,04526,5733,39211.3% 99.9%
2025 22,66421,4291,1665.1% 99.8%

In 2025, Germany’s embassy and consulates in Kuwait (Kuwait City) received 22,664 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 21,429. The refusal rate was 5.1%. The refusal rate fell by 6.2 points from 11.3% in 2024, a clear improvement for applicants. Applications fell by 25% compared with 2024 (30,045).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 5.7% of the applications lodged in Kuwait that year, from 2.7% at the consulates of France to 15.1% at those of Hungary. Germany’s consulates worldwide refused 13.1%. Germany was the 4th most applied-for Schengen state in Kuwait.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Kuwait, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
