Italy: visa decisions in Kosovo
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 3,655 | 3,358 | 294 | 8.0% | 82.6% |
| 2024 | 126 | 88 | 33 | 26.2% | 90.9% |
| 2025 | 136 | 123 | 13 | 9.6% | 89.4% |
In 2025, Italy’s embassy and consulates in Kosovo (Pristina) received 136 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 123. 9.6% of applications were refused. In 2024 it had been 26.2%: the rate fell by 16.6 points, a clear improvement for applicants. Applications rose by 8% compared with 2024 (126).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 9.6% of the applications lodged in Kosovo that year. Italy’s consulates worldwide refused 10.8%. Italy was the 3rd most applied-for Schengen state in Kosovo.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Kosovo, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
