Denmark: visa decisions in Kenya

YearApplicationsVisas issuedRefusedRefusal rateMultiple-entry share
2023 2,9491,76197235.5% 19.6%
2024 4,5902,0632,31952.8% 10.0%
2025 4,5652,8731,49134.2% 11.3%

In 2025, Denmark’s embassy and consulates in Kenya (Nairobi) received 4,565 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 2,873. The refusal rate was 34.2%. The refusal rate fell by 18.6 points from 52.8% in 2024, a clear improvement for applicants. The number of applications was almost unchanged (4,590 in 2024).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 33.1% of the applications lodged in Kenya that year, from 16.7% at the consulates of the Czech Republic to 60.9% at those of Norway. Denmark’s consulates worldwide refused 21.9%. Denmark was the 7th most applied-for Schengen state in Kenya.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Kenya, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
