2025 10,2779,4447687.5% 38.9%

In 2025, Hungary’s embassy and consulates in Kazakhstan (Almaty) received 10,277 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 9,444. 7.5% of applications were refused. In 2024 the rate was much the same, 6.3%. Applications fell by 6% compared with 2024 (10,944).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 9.1% of the applications lodged in Kazakhstan that year, from 1.6% at the consulates of Romania to 20.5% at those of Finland. Hungary’s consulates worldwide refused 13.0%. Hungary was the 6th most applied-for Schengen state in Kazakhstan.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Kazakhstan, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
