Slovakia: visa decisions in Iran

2024 494724.1% 0.0%
2025 433849.5% 2.6%

In 2025, Slovakia’s embassy and consulates in Iran (Tehran) received 43 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 38. The refusal rate was 9.5%. The refusal rate rose by 5.4 points from 4.1% in 2024, a sharp increase. Applications fell by 12% compared with 2024 (49).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 29.1% of the applications lodged in Iran that year, from 16.6% at the consulates of Romania to 46.2% at those of Austria. Slovakia’s consulates worldwide refused 9.6%. Slovakia was the 21st most applied-for Schengen state in Iran.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Iran, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
