Portugal: visa decisions in Indonesia

YearApplicationsVisas issuedRefusedRefusal rateMultiple-entry share
2023 4,6864,4042826.0% 48.6%
2024 3,1372,8781906.2% 41.7%
2025 3,1822,9522307.2% 56.0%

In 2025, Portugal’s embassy and consulates in Indonesia (Jakarta) received 3,182 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 2,952. The refusal rate was 7.2%. That is barely different from 2024 (6.2%). The number of applications was almost unchanged (3,137 in 2024).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 5.2% of the applications lodged in Indonesia that year, from 0.0% at the consulates of Austria to 10.1% at those of Croatia. Portugal’s consulates worldwide refused 23.3%. Portugal was the 10th most applied-for Schengen state in Indonesia.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Indonesia, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
